Nestled in a rural area of central New Mexico, you will find the community of Moriarty. Moriarty is called the "Crossroads of Opportunity" because it is perfectly located in the heart of the state, right along the Historic Route 66.
Moriarty is situated in an area that has remained largely rural. Large farms and ranches are plentiful here. Alfalfa, beans, corn, pinto beans, pumpkins and wheat are some of the crops commonly raised in Torrance County. Alpacas, cows, goats, horses and llamas are common on smaller spreads.
Each October, Moriarty holds the Pinto Bean Fiesta. This celebration includes games in Crossly Park, a parade and crowning of a "Pinto Bean Queen."
